Hard Rock Hotel Penang is the first and only Hard Rock Hotel in Penang and Malaysia. The hotel is music themed and filled with paraphernalia’s of famous music artists in the past. It is also located at the famous beach of Batu Ferringhi. Without further ado, I would like to share with you the pros and cons of this hotel.
Pros
- This is an awesome place to stay in if you are coming with families and kids
- Stay in this hotel if you like loud, positive vibes and to meet lots of people
- Night market is just 5 minutes’ walk away and some eateries nearby
- Hard Rock Experience – Service staffs are friendly, helpful, cheerful, warm, respectful, efficient, always smiling and make you feel welcomed
- Certain hotel guests even received early check-ins
- Certain hotel guests received room upgrades
- Couples celebrating their anniversaries at the hotel were also given complimentary cakes
- Breakfast is good and has a wide range of choices that cater to everyone
- Great pool that is well designed for adults and kids
- A nice gym overlooking the pool
- You can also enjoy water sports at additional charges at the beach front
- The facilities for kids are fabulous
- The rooms are spacious and clean
- The rooms are decorated in rock star themes and feature Wi-Fi internet access, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, mini-bar, coffee and tea makers
- Certain rooms on the upper levels offer great view of the pool and sea
- Some rooms even provide free movies and family rooms include Playstations and extra beds while suites include an additional living room and some sofa beds
- The bed is really comfortable to sleep on
- Wi-Fi internet connection is fast
- Toiletries provided by the hotel are good
Cons
- Although it is a brilliant place to stay in if you are travelling with family and kids, this hotel’s environment is not suitable for travelling couples because it is lacking the romantic ambiance
- The hotel is often crowded and noisy
- The location of the hotel is too far from Georgetown
- Certain hotel guests find the room prices too expensive
- If you are not a sand lover, this hotel may not be the best choice for you as the surrounding pool area is completely covered in sand
- If you are flying in, it can take you more than 1 hour to reach the hotel from Penang International Airport during peak hours
- Certain guests found the check-in to be terrible
- The breakfast venue is always messy, noisy and crowded
- Some guests said that the room service was good but not service orientated and they had to go to the restaurant to heat up the food by themselves
- The hotel does not provide a diaper changing table and a bathtub for babies to take their showers
- There is lack of chairs in the lounge
- Beware of staying in this hotel during school holidays as there will be a lot of kids running around and screaming everywhere
- Some guests complained that there are many smokers around the swimming pool area and this is not healthy for kids
- If you are more into city life, nightlife and shopping, the location of this hotel is not suitable for you because it is quite far from Georgetown
- Despite having spacious rooms, the bathroom space is quite tiny especially for the family room and you have to close the door in the bathroom to get into the shower
- The rooms are tired, dated, damp and need refurbishments
